Heavy Electric Traffic Ecosystem (HETE)
Join us in developing innovative DC fast-charging technology for the electric truck traffic!
The ecosystem is co-funded by Business Finland as part of their ‘Veturi’ initiative, where international companies are invited to solve some of society’s most pressing challenges through increased research, development and innovation investments in Finland.
In the spotlight
The electrification of trucks is only just starting
While EVs and their charging infrastructure are rapidly growing, the market lacks charging infrastructure for heavy traffic, such as electric trucks. Developing a heavy traffic ecosystem with a complete charging infrastructure is essential to support the rise of electric trucks. Reducing the CO2 emissions of trucks – which contribute 27% of total traffic emissions – requires scalable and practical charging infrastructure.
Mission: Electrify heavy traffic sustainably
The ecosystem enables users and applications to research and develop technologies and business models around heavy traffic energy flows and logistics.
Meeting the high energy needs of electric trucks is a significant challenge that is impossible to tackle alone. As the leading Veturi company in the ecosystem, Kempower invites all companies that are enabling energy flow – from electricity producers to batteries – to join us on this mission.

The Kempower Megawatt Charging System
The Kempower Megawatt Charging System is a dedicated solution for electric trucks and other heavy electric vehicles, providing high charging powers above
1 MW.
- Available peak charging power of up to 1.2 MW
- The Kempower Mega Satellite charger provides a solution based on Kempower’s state-of-the-art technology
- The Kempower Mega Satellite utilizes 1,500 A current and a voltage range of 200–1,250 VDC*
*Limited by Kempower Power Unit to 920 VDC in the first development phase.
Launching an ecosystem for heavy electric traffic
The Heavy Electric Traffic Ecosystem is an R&D program that aims to develop charging technology suitable for truck traffic. It includes a supporting software platform and testing infrastructure for charging systems.
The ecosystem will also study future charging models and analyze the impacts of charging infrastructure on electric grids. Kempower will launch R&D projects across all areas of the program and invites other future-oriented businesses with R&D expertise in Finland to join the ecosystem.
